Printmaking with vegetables

After buying a couple of big spuds and thinking up christmas themed shapes we cut out a tree, holly, a present and a star to decorate A3 sized paper ready for wrapping presents up.

Some of the prints are a bit splodgy as we applied the paint straight on rather than using a sponge as some websites suggest. Also key seems to be getting a perfectly flat face to the shape although I’m not sure how between cutting the potato in half and cutting a shape into it they got deformed. However, we did manage to have green holly and red berries.

The kids resisted the temptation to mix the colours and it was only right at the end that we ended up with the obligatory brown shapes.
